Οι Anonymous κήρυξαν τον πόλεμο στην Τουρκία:Την ευθύνη για την πρόσφατη, μεγάλη διαδικτυακή επίθεση κατά της Άγκυρας, η οποία «έριξε» περίπου 400.000 ιστοσελίδες ανέλαβαν οι Anonymous.

Με βίντεο που «ανέβασαν» στο Διαδίκτυο, οι anonymous αναφέρουν πως η Τουρκία βοηθάει τους τζιχαντιστές, αγοράζοντας πετρέλαιο από εκείνους, ενώ υποστηρίζουν επίσης πως βοηθούν να νοσηλευτούν οι μαχητές της ακραίας ισλαμιστικής οργάνωσης.

Παράλληλα απειλούν την Τουρκία με νέες κυβερνοεπιθέσεις κατά τραπεζών και αεροδρομίων.
«Δεν θα δεχθούμε ότι ο Ερντογάν, ο ηγέτης της Τουρκίας, θα συνεχίσει να βοηθάει το Ισλαμικό Κράτος. Αγαπητή Τουρκία, αν δεν σταματήσεις να υποστηρίζεις το Νταές θα συνεχίσουμε τις επιθέσεις εναντίον σου», προειδοποιούν οι  Anonymous.

Ericsson και Apple σχεδιάζουν συνεργασία.Αν και οι δύο κολοσσοί είχαν μηνύσει ο ένας τον άλλο τον Ιανουάριο, έβαλαν τέλος στον νομικό διαπληκτισμό και σχεδιάζουν να συνεργαστούν σε μια σειρά τεχνολογικούς τομείς. Η Ericsson επιδιώκει να αυξήσει τα έσοδα από πνευματικά δικαιώματα.

Οι Ericsson και Apple διευθέτησαν ένα νομικό διαπληκτισμό που αφορού
σε σε πατέντες συσκευών κινητής τηλεφωνίας, φτάνοντας σε συμφωνία αδειοδότησης και ανοίγοντας το δρόμο για συνεργασία μεταξύ των δύο κολοσσών της βιομηχανίας της τεχνολογίας.

Ολονύχτιο πάρτι για τα 2,24 δισ. του “Χοντρού.Χιλιάδες Ισπανών καταλήφθηκαν χθες από τον “πυρετό” της κλήρωσης του El Gordo (“το χοντρό”), ενός ετήσιου λαχείου που τους απέφερε συνολικά κέρδη 2,24 δισεκατομμύρια.

Of all the innovations this century, the most wonderful to me is Google Street View. Twenty years from now, it may be as quaint as a yellowing antique globe, but it has kept me enthralled since it appeared in 2007.Sweden’s GeoGuessr makes the Domesday Book of our global times even more enthralling.

Last week, I was at my desk in New York trying to avoid work. So by way of procrastination, I went for an onscreen stroll around where I once lived in Nottingham. Lovely to see quiet, English streets after being away for a while.

One thing led to another and next I was exploring Qaqortoq, a town of 3,229 people in southern Greenland. Amazing, harsh light. Kids playing in the streets. Who’d have thought?

Then I went to a street in Nikolsk, a small town hundreds of miles south-east of Moscow and looked at someone’s house with a pile of wood, a chicken and a VW outside it.

When I first went to the USSR in 1971, people would ask what this closed, scary place looked like. Did they have shops, cars? Did people walk the streets? Today, much of Russia is there to explore, in high definition. Even without including China, or much of India and Germany, Google cameras have covered more than 5m miles of roads.

This is, surely, the Domesday Book of our global times? Privacy issues be blowed, for me, anyone who doesn’t marvel at it severely lacks imagination and curiosity.

If you’re with me on that, then, prepare now to have your Christmas radically altered, because I have found an online game based on Street View, which I’ve been playing this past year and believe may be the best downtime diversion ever invented.

It is called GeoGuessr. It was devised as a hobby by a group of IT professionals collaborating across Sweden “during the hard Swedish winter of 2013” as they say on their website. Suggesting they, too, had time on their hands. But GeoGuessr is gaining so many fans that it is becoming a business.

The game deposits the player in a random Street View spot somewhere on the globe. It is then your job to work out where you are, to the closest metre. You can do this on your own, or with a challenger, who can be in the same room, or another location. I’ve been playing it transatlantically with a daughter, keeping Skype open as we play to goad/mock/disrupt the other’s efforts. We are quite competitive.

You make up your own rules. Some just guess, based on the flora, fauna, light, whatever. We choose to scoot around roads in the locale, which may be in a city (easy) or a dirt track in the Amazon (not easy) looking carefully for clues — a road sign, or, maybe, a phone number on a van. We then use Google, plus considerable cunning, to guess where we are. You click on your chosen spot on an inset map on your PC screen and discover how close your estimation was — the nearer, the more points.

I’ve got within 40 metres in the Atacama Desert in Chile — my proudest GeoGuessr moment — to 14,000km astray when I thought Patagonia was Estonia.

GeoGuessrs get really cross when the challenge is a featureless forest in Scandinavia or Canada. You get deeply smug when you can read Cyrillic for clues, your daughter can’t, and the location is Russian. You feel helpless when it’s rural Thailand and you can’t read Thai.

You come across extraordinary things on your travels. We once saw a massive bloodstain by a road in rural South Africa, close to what Google revealed was the local murder capital. We also witnessed what seemed to be a police chase in Sarawak, Borneo.

We have come to believe, however, that the algorithms are generally biased to include a surfeit of inscrutable forests.

So I contacted the developers. This was not easy. The guys are not exactly publicity-hunters. The founder, Anton Wallén, is on Twitter, but has tweeted just three times in four years.

He eventually communicated by email via a more outgoing colleague. I raised the featureless forests issue.

“I have to give a bit of a boring answer that it varies,” Mr Wallén said. “At the core the locations are selected randomly, but to give a better experience and a more even distribution of locations we do some tweaks to the location selection.”

This is a mystery solved for GeoGuessr addicts, but not as big news as this: the developers have in the past few days launched an iPad and iPhone version of the game. I may now be able to cube my levels of procrastination in 2016.

Science tells us that hot water turns into a cloud of ice crystals when tossed at subzero temperatures, but Ontario based photographer Michael Davies managed capture this phenomenon on camera. This past Sunday, just 20km south of the Arctic Circle, Davies took these incredible photos of his friend Markus pouring hot tea at -40C near the Arctic Circle during sunset.

“Prepared with multiple thermoses filled with tea, we began tossing the water and shooting,” Davies told Huff Post. “Nothing of this shot was to chance, I followed the temperature, watched for calm wind, and planned the shot and set it up. Even the sun in the middle of the spray was something I was hoping for, even though it’s impossible to control.”

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — X-ray vision, a comic book fantasy for decades, is becoming a reality in a lab at MIT, using new technology only for 300$.

A group of researchers led by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Dina Katabi has developed software that uses variations in radio signals to recognize human silhouettes through walls and track their movements.

Researchers say the technology will be able to help health care providers and families keep closer tabs on toddlers and the elderly, and it could be a new strategic tool for law enforcement and the military.

“Think of it just like cameras, except that it’s not a camera,” said Fadel Adib, a researcher on the MIT team developing the device.

“It’s a sensor that can monitor people and allow you to control devices just by pointing at them,” he said.

Work began in 2012 to determine how wireless signals could be used to “see” what’s happening in another room, said Katabi, who directs the MIT Wireless Center.

“At first we were just interested … can you at all use wireless signals to detect what’s happening in occluded spaces, behind a wall, couch, something like that,” Katabi said.

“It turned out that we were able to detect that. And when we figured out we could detect that, we started asking more advanced questions: Could we use it to detect exactly how people are moving in a space if they are behind a wall?”

The device displays the signal on a screen, where the person’s movements can be tracked in real time. It depicts the target as a red dot moving around the room, occupying a chair and speeding up or slowing down.

The wireless signals used to track a person’s motions also can measure the individual’s breathing and heart rate – and potentially identify the person based on the shape of his or her skeleton, said researcher Zach Kabelac.

Βλέπαμε συνήθως μια ντουζίνα ή λιγότερους να περνούν καθημερινά. Τη μέρα που τραβήχτηκε αυτή η φωτογραφία υπήρχαν περισσότεροι από 60 πιγκουίνοι. Είχα και λίγη τύχη».

ΕΚΤ: “Εύθραυστη η κατάσταση στην Ελλάδα, αν και υπάρχει πρόοδος”.Έχει επιτευχθεί μεγάλη πρόοδος σε ό,τι αφορά τις διαπραγματεύσεις με την Ελλάδα, αν και η κατάσταση στη χώρα παραμένει πολύ εύθραυστη, δήλωσε σε συνέντευξή του στην εφημερίδα La Libre Belgique ο Πέτερ Πράετ, ο επικεφαλής οικονομολόγος της Ευρωπαϊκής Κεντρικής Τράπεζας (ΕΚΤ).

«Οι συζητήσεις συνεχίζονται και είναι ακόμα πολύ εντατικές σε πολιτικό και τεχνικό επίπεδο, αλλά υπάρχει η θέληση για επιτυχία και το κλίμα των συνομιλιών έχει βελτιωθεί σημαντικά», δήλωσε ο Πράετ, ερωτηθείς για το εάν η κατάσταση στην Ελλάδα είναι τώρα υπό έλεγχο.

«Είναι σαφώς πιο θετικό απ’ ό,τι ήταν στις αρχές του χρόνου. Έχει γίνει ήδη μεγάλη πρόοδος μέσω αυτών διαπραγματεύσεων. Έχουν ψηφιστεί σημαντικές μεταρρυθμίσεις. Οι τράπεζες θα είναι ανακεφαλαιοποιημένες. Ωστόσο, η κατάσταση παραμένει πολύ εύθραυστη στη χώρα».

Αναφορικά με τη συνέχιση της παρούσας χαλαρής νομισματικής πολιτικής της ΕΚΤ, ο Πράετ, που είναι επίσης μέλος του εκτελεστικού συμβουλίου της ΕΚΤ, δήλωσε ότι η κεντρική τράπεζα «θα επιδιώξει μια διευκολυντική νομισματική πολιτική για όσο διάστημα χρειαστεί. Χωρίς να δίνει κανείς μια συγκεκριμένη ημερομηνία, το χρονοδιάγραμμα είναι σχετικά μεγάλο».

«Έχουν προκύψει επιπλέον ρίσκα από την επιβράδυνση στις αναδυόμενες οικονομίες, ρίσκα που είναι αρκετά σημαντικά για την ευρωζώνη. Υπάρχουν επίσης πτωτικές πιέσεις στις τιμές στον μεταποιητικό τομέα, ως αποτέλεσμα της πλεονάζουσας παραγωγής και της πολύ υψηλής ανεργίας», δήλωσε ο Πράετ.

Waste spill buries buildings in southern China, 85 missing.At least 85 people were missing in China on Monday a day after a giant flow of mud and construction waste spewed out of an overfull dump in a boomtown and buried 33 buildings in its latest industrial disaster.

The site should have been closed in February, but workers said mud and waste had continued to be dumped there, a news portal run by authorities in the southern city of Shenzhen said.

Premier Li Keqiang ordered an investigation into Sunday’s landslide in the city, just across the border from Hong Kong.

The mudslide smashed into multi-storey buildings at the Hengtaiyu industrial park in the Guangming New District, toppling them within seconds in collisions that sent rivers of earth skyward.

“The mud had been building up for a few years,” said Han Bin, who lives by the site and witnessed the wall of mud sweep toward the buildings on Sunday.

“We didn’t realize this could happen.”

The frequency of industrial accidents has raised questions about safety standards after three decades of breakneck growth in the world’s second-largest economy. Just four months ago, more than 160 people were killed in big chemical blasts in the northern port city of Tianjin.

State television showed devastation in Shenzhen, with bits of broken buildings sticking up from heaps of mud stretching out over the industrial park.

More than a year ago, a government-run newspaper warned Shenzhen would run out of space to dump waste from a building frenzy.

Το κυβερνών δεξιό Λαϊκό Κόμμα του  Μαριάνο Ραχόι εξασφαλίζει το 28,5% (από το σχεδόν 45% που είχε λάβει το 2011) και 122 έδρες  καταμέτρημένο του 90% των ψήφων.

Το Σοσιαλιστικό Κόμμα έρχεται δεύτερο με 22,5% και 91 έδρες και οι Podemos με 20,5% και 69 έδρες και οι Ciudadanos με 14% και 40 έδρες.

Τα exit poll της δημόσιας και ιδιωτικής τηλεόρασης έδιναν στο Podemos τη δεύτερη θέση, οριακά  μπροστά από το Σοσιαλιστικό Κόμμα, διευκρινίζει το Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο Ειδήσεων.

Δεύτερη πολιτική δύναμη, με ποσοστό 21,7% αναδεικνύεται το Podemos οι οποίοι κατέκτησαν την πρώτη θέση στην Καταλονία και στη Χώρα των Βάσκων και την δεύτερη στη Μαδρίτη.

Σύμφωνα με το πρώτο exit poll, πρώτο σε ψήφους έρχεται το κόμμα του Μαριάνο Ραχόι με 114-118 έδρες, δεύτεροι οι Σοσιαλιστές με 81-85 έδρες και τρίτο το Podemos με 76-80 έδρες. Τέταρτο έρχεται το Ciudadanos 47-50.

Σύμφωνα με το RTVE: το Λαϊκό Κόμμα συγκεντρώνει 114-118 έδρες (ποσοστό: 26%), οι Σοσιαλιστές κατακτούν 81-85 έδρες (20,5%), οι Podemos 76-80 έδρες (ποσοστό21,7%). Αρκετά πιο μακριά οι Ciudadanos με 47-50 έδρες.

Το Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο Ειδήσεων μεταδίδει ότι το PP είναι ο νικητής των εκλογών με το 26,8% των ψήφων και δεύτερη δύναμη αναδεικνύεται το κίνημα Podemos με το 21,7% των ψήφων.
