Le Maire: We Don’t Want A Trade War – Ball Is in U.S. Court

We still have a few days to avoid a trade war, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire told reporters Saturday in Whistler, British Columbia.

We have everything prepared to respond to the American decisions, Le Maire says
If we want to avoid that escalation, it is up to the American administration to take the right steps
We cannot understand this American decision, we are close allies
We are ready to respond, but we would prefer not to respond
It has been a tense but tough G-7 meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors
