If, eventually, the government were to approve of such a plan, Finland could scrap all existing benefits and instead hand out a monthly stipend to everyone. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/yle.fi\/uutiset\/kela_to_prepare_basic_income_proposal\/8422295\">some reports<\/a>, the monthly payment could be \u20ac800 ($870).<\/p>\n<div class=\"anno-right\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"annotatable\">Whereas <a href=\"http:\/\/qz.com\/437088\/utrecht-will-give-money-for-free-to-its-citizens-will-it-make-them-lazier\/\">several Dutch cities will introduce basic income<\/a> next year and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-25415501\">Switzerland is holding a referendum<\/a> on the subject, there is strongest political and public support for the idea in Finland.<\/p>\n<div class=\"anno-right\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"annotatable\">A poll commissioned by KELA <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kela.fi\/ajankohtaista-henkiloasiakkaat\/-\/asset_publisher\/kg5xtoqDw6Wf\/content\/perustulolla-on-vahva-kannatus?_101_INSTANCE_bXQwrAFx2FGH_redirect=%2F\">showed that 69% support<\/a> (link in Finnish) a basic income plan.
