He&#8217;s designed an earthquake-proof bed that promises to keep you safe should your house fall down in the small hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"thirdPar\">\n<p><span class=\"ssImg \"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.telegraph.co.uk\/multimedia\/archive\/03529\/Earthquake_Bed_3529749a.gif\" alt=\"Earthquake Bed\" width=\"540\" height=\"303\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fourthPar\">\n<p>When a quake hits, the bed&#8217;s mechanism will spring into action, slamming you into a reinforced chamber, a bit like a tiny panic room, where (we assume) you&#8217;re supposed to sit tight and await rescue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fifthPar\">\n<p>Wang was apparently granted a patent for his design in 2010, but it only recently captured the public&#8217;s imagination after this concept video appeared on YouTube and started doing the rounds on social media over the last few days.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"player1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RI3pz5p6l24?enablejsapi=1\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As the video shows, Wang&#8217;s bed includes storage space for drinking water, canned food, and other vital supplies to keep you alive in your tiny little metal coffin until help arrives.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters in 2010, Wang said: &#8220;The Wenchuan and Yushu earthquakes caused heavy casualties so I thought the most serious thing I could do was to invent something to reduce the toll in lives.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Wenchuan earthquake, in the southwestern province of Sichuan, left nearly 87,000 people dead or missing in 2008.
