Sachs.<\/p>\n<p>His successor Jean Claude Juncker ordered the investigation following Barroso\u2019s appointment in July as an advisor to the US investment bank.<\/p>\n<p>Juncker has sent Barroso \u201ca letter asking him to provide clarification on his new responsibilities and the terms of reference of his contract.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>European Ombudsman Emily O\u2019Reilly said she was pleased the head of the EU executive had responded to the concerns<\/p>\n<p>A group of <span class=\"caps\">MEP<\/span>s have called for Barroso\u2019s EU pension to be withheld.<\/p>\n<p>Former EU commissioners can lose pension riights if a breach of the EU\u2019s ethical code can be proven.<\/p>\n<p>Barroso is yet to respond to Juncker\u2019s letter, which stresses that the former Portuguese premier will be treated as a lobbyist on his next visit to the Commission\u2019s headquarters in Brussels.<\/p>\n<p>It means he will be granted none of the <span class=\"caps\">VIP<\/span> treatment
