The drop was largely due to a weaker rate of expansion in Germany, the region\u2019s largest economy, the London-based company said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The report comes just days before the European Central Bank holds its first policy meeting after the summer break. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg <a title=\"Draghi Nears His QE3 as ECB Seen Relying on Ever-More Stimulus\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2016-09-04\/draghi-nears-his-qe3-as-ecb-seen-relying-on-ever-more-stimulus\" data-tracker-action=\"click\" data-tracker-category=\"recirc\" data-tracker-label=\"inline_link.01\">predict<\/a> officials will eventually be forced to add stimulus to sustain the recovery and raise inflation, even though they\u2019re divided over when more measures will be announced.<\/p>\n<div data-view-uid=\"1|0_3_1_10\"><\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-image inline-media center \">\n<div class=\"inline-media__unlinked-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/images\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/itXKY1Sf6HSw\/v2\/488x-1.png\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/images\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/itXKY1Sf6HSw\/v2\/488x-1.png 488w, https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/images\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/itXKY1Sf6HSw\/v2\/628x-1.png 628w, https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/images\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/itXKY1Sf6HSw\/v2\/750x-1.png 750w, https:\/\/assets.bwbx.io\/images\/users\/iqjWHBFdfxIU\/itXKY1Sf6HSw\/v2\/-1x-1.png 1200w\" data-attachment-key=\"303409344\" \/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe survey data will fuel expectations that the ECB would prefer not to wait before injecting more stimulus into the economy,\u201d said Chris Williamson, chief business economist at IHS Markit. Policy makers will be under pressure \u201cto act later this week to help shore up confidence in both the outlook for the economy and the bank\u2019s commitment to its inflation target.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New-order growth slowed to the weakest since January last year, with signs emerging that job creation is cooling.<\/p>\n<p>The slowdown in Germany is \u201cperhaps the biggest source of concern,\u201d Williamson said.
